Project Kat is a short, unconventional RPG horror game in which there is always another way. Solve puzzles, make friends (or not), and guide Kat as she attempts to uncover the mystery behind a strange golden letter.

Mortis Ghost created an official web page for OFF at an unknown date (possibly around the same time the OFF translations were created). The website is entirely in French and has not yet been translated. The website itself contained info about the game. This also includes different images created by Mortis Ghost, OFF Downloads (in multiple languages), sketches, wallpapers, sheet music, a solution page (also in French) and a peculiar folder named "DossierSG", which is a lengthy review created by someone named "ShadowGate". It is twelve pages long and has yet to be translated. As of 2021, all downloadable content from that site can be found under the games section of the Unproductive Fun Time site.

Pocket Mirror Classic (2016) is an original mystery horror adventure game made using RPG MAKER VX ACE. During the development of this game we have gotten our inspiration from various japanese RPG MAKER games of the same genre such as Ib and The Witch's House which have motivated us to create our own.

That's one of the best rpg horror games I've ever played. Wonderful designs, characters, music, and story! I really don't know why something this deep isn't famous:/ it really deserves better! Keep working hard, I know it will be successful soon! It's a masterpiece

No Delivery is a dope horror game hidden behind the funny pixel pizza delivery concept. The dirty environment may not be a thing for everyone. There could be more highlight effects on the interactable objects, and the control on the menus could be more clear.

Been having an interesting time with this game, very unique blend of horror, adventure, and turn-based RPG elements as you make your way through the different parts of the creepy pizza establishment. Definitely been enjoying it so far, I'm hoping to get around to making more parts on it!

RPG Maker horror games are horror games that are made with the highly popular and open-source RPG Maker. Short for Role-Playing Game Maker, RPG Maker is an open-source game-making tool for beginners and professionals. The software allows creators to make retro-style role-playing game types similar to those from the early 80s to the early 90s. The tool is most often used by hobbyist game designers or casual designers interested in particular genres of games.

But out of all the genres, horror has got to be the most popular in terms of the number of titles created with the RPG Maker. A few of the more popular titles in the genre include The Crooked Man, Dark Father, and Ip. While these titles never fail to impress, there are other titles that you need to check out.

If the horror genre is close to your heart, we highly recommend this list of the best immersive horror games to scare you senseless. The majority of these games are available on Steam, from which you can download a desktop version of the game. Alicemare is a psychological horror and adventure game created by Japanese developer Miwashiba. This game masterfully combines storybook elements with the right amount of horror. It is also notable for its gorgeous and distinct art style, with cute characters that contrast nicely with the disturbing narrative of the story.

Mad Father is a survival horror game and one of the best online RPG Maker horror games. The game is widely notable for its intelligent plot and highly challenging difficulty level. Critics have also described the game to have a similar theme to the likes of popular video games like Silent Hill, Alone in the Dark, and Resident Evil.

Hello, Charlotte is a horror game series developed by Etherane, an artist and game developer from Estonia. The game takes place in a fictional dystopian world where human-looking aliens called Overmen assume powers over humans.

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass is a horror role-playing game with simple graphics but a highly engaging storyline. The game takes inspiration from a variety of classic horror games, including EarthBound, Yume Nikki, and Silent Hill.

Off is a French horror role-playing game created by MortisGhost with RPG Maker in 2003. It took a few years for the game to have an English translation, after which it quickly rose to fame as one of the most memorable horror games to date. The game is for its deep storyline, immersive environment, and memorable characters.

Your Turn to Die is a Japanese horror visual novel-turned-video game combining negotiation, adventure, and horror elements. The game recently gained popularity for its similarities with the hit Netflix series Squid Game.

Flesh, Blood, & Concrete is a free indie horror game by Letatlin Dev in 2020. The game combines elements of classic storytelling, exploration, and psychological horror into a memorable tale. The tale is about how the past affects our state of mind and perceptions of the present.

Palette is a psychological horror adventure game made with RPG Maker version 95 by Nishida Yoshitaka. Yoshitaka released the original version of the game way back in 2001. Subsequently, the game became so popular to the point that it was remade professionally by PlayStation for Enterbrain.

Oujia Sleepover is a queer-themed supernatural horror game created by developer Hatoge using RPG Maker. The game has a very simple yet exciting plot involving vengeful spirits, haunted apartments, and queer love.

Corpse Party is a survival horror and adventure game created by Makoto Kedōin and developed by Team Gris-Gris. There are seven games in the series, with the first game being released back in 1996 and the last game released in 2015.

Out of the many genres that emerged from the video game world, the horror genre stands out for its enduring and versatile quality. In many ways, horror may just be the ace or the jack of all trades in the video game world. In other words, it can blend in wonderfully with any genre, leaving an endless pool of possibilities both in terms of the plot and the scare factor.

While most mainstream horror games have excellent graphics and effects, these games often have cliche storylines and mechanics due to the heavy censorship behind the scenes. The limitations imposed on these games leave out large pools of creative ideas and possibilities untapped. With this in mind, you may want to look at a different source of horror movies if you prefer games with fresh and novel ideas. This is where indie horror games come in.

If you are on the lookout for games with an exceptionally unpolished, novel, or memorable quality to them, then RPG Maker horror games are surely the best way to go. You might also want to try out a few indie games with unique concepts, and we have just the list. Here are some of the best indie games you are probably sleeping on.

Fans of horror games have benefited more than most from the meteoric rise of online gaming, with many of the genre's most famous titles and franchises having started life as free-to-play indie games. With Flash games no longer a thing, Steam is now one of the very best places for those indie game developers to showcase their work, thanks in large to the sheer size of the platform.

This obviously works out pretty well for players too, effectively ensuring that there are always plenty of new free-to-play games just waiting to be discovered on Steam. Fans of horror games are particularly spoiled for choice in this regard, as there's an ever-growing number of fantastic free-to-play horror games on Steam. Below are some of the very best ones.

Like many other free-to-play horror games before it, After Hours takes place in an abandoned hospital. Players must explore and escape the derelict facility, while simultaneously being stalked by the mysterious creature that resides there. Stealth and silence will be key for those hoping to survive, though, even then, nothing is guaranteed.

Alien Swarmdoesn't contain jump scares, nor does it rely on shocking imagery like some of the other great free-to-play horror games on Steam, but it can still be pretty scary when an alien swarm begins to close in around the player's position. In that sense, the game does an excellent job of creating tension while simultaneously rewarding players for their efforts with satisfying power-ups and weapon drops. For those in the market for a good horror shooter, it's definitely worth a look.

Those who are accustomed to cheap thrills and jump scares will likely come away disappointed, as this is a game that seeks to shock its players through immersion, atmosphere, and suspense. It burns pretty slowly in that respect but does so with a surprisingly bright flame considering the limited resources available to the Finnish studio that developed it. Anyone who enjoys Lovecraftian horror will find a lot to like here, though players with an aversion to polar bears might want to sit this one out.

Inspired by some of the great RPG Maker horror games of yesteryear, Ann is arguably one of the most well-presented free-to-play passion projects on Steam. It looks and sounds fantastic and blends together high-quality animation and traditional 2D sprite-based gameplay to surprisingly good effect.

As the game's title might suggest, At Home Alone Final was in development for quite a while before the current version was released at the beginning of 2022. The end result is a game that ends up being a lot more spooky than it is terrifying, though it still very much warrants its placement in the upper echelons of the free-to-play horror game genre.
